John J. Daley served as Mayor of Rutland City from 1961 through 1965 and again in 1981-1982. He served two terms as Lieutenant Governor (1965-1969) with Philip Hoff as Governor, and ran for Governor in 1968, losing to Deane C. Davis. He served two terms in the House of Representatives in 1991-1994, representing Rutland City.
