This is a blanket chest that features a paneled exterior lid/cover with decorative hammered brass finished metal protecting each of the four exterior corners. It has a medium dark stain. Inside the lid, there is a gold-colored plaque stating "This wood was taken from a log used by Col. Davis in building a dam in 1788 on the site now occupied by Lane MFG. Co." Additionally, there is a sliding cedar tray located inside the chest. The handles at each end of the chest and on the front of the lid are made of the same hammered metal as the corner protectors. On the front of the exterior, the initials "M.R." are also featured in hammered brass-colored metal, which stands for Maizie Rumsey. The plain bracket feet support the chest on each corner.
