Cast and electrotype copy of a Vermont copper. It has a bust on one side and the allegorical figure, Columbia, on the other. The face side shows a right-facing bust of a Roman figure, wearing a laurel wreath on his head, tied with a ribbon at the nape of his neck, and military armor. The words "VERMON AUCTORI" ring the edge. The word "COPY" is stamped at the bottom. On the reverse, Columbia is shown swathed in loose fabric, seated next to a shield. She is holding a staff with a liberty cap in her left hand, and a small branch in her right hand. The date 1786 is at the bottom center.Acquisition
