Copper coin with a bust on one side and the allegorical figure, Columbia, on the other. The face side shows a right-facing bust of a Roman figure, wearing a laurel wreath on his head, tied with a ribbon at the nape of his neck, and military armor. The words "VERMON AUCTORI" ring the edge. The O in "Vermon" is mis-struck, overlapping the M slightly. On the reverse, Columbia is shown swathed in loose fabric, seated next to a shield bearing the Union flag. She is holding a staff with a liberty cap in her left hand, and a small branch in her right hand. The words "INDE ET LIB 1787" ring the edge.
The coin has been re-engraved by hand.Acquisition
