Purple heart medal, bar, and case. a = The purple heart consists of a purple ribbon from which hangs a purple-enameled heart-shaped medallion with a profile and crest of George Washington. b = There is also a small purple and white bar pin. c = The two pins are a leather box labeled, "PURPLE HEART".
