Context

Frank Walter Agan (1869-1934) was one of four Republicans vying for the party's nomination for governor in 1920. He lost to James Hartness who was subsequently elected governor. Agan had previously run for lieutenant governor in 1902 as the Local Option candidate, but lost to Zed Stanton, a Republican. Agan was in woolen mill manufacturing in Ludlow. He had two wives, Cora, who died in the late 1890s, and then Maria.
