Description

Large commemorative metal consisting of a bar, a ribbon, and a medallion. The bar is shaped like a banner and left unengraved. The grosgrain ribbon is striped red, white, and blue. The medallion is in the shape of a bust of Admiral Dewey within a laurel wreath with a spread eagle at the bottom.

Context

Admiral George Dewey, of Montpelier, Vermont, was a celebrated war hero during the Spanish-American War. This was owned by his brother, Charles Dewey.
