Purposefully constructed historic relic consisting of a chest, gavel and sounding block. The chest is made of wood with a brass handle at the center top, two brass hinges, two brass latches, and a brass escutcheon. The center front is inlaid with the word, "VERMONT." The interior of the box is lined with white satin and inside rest a wooden gavel, held by the handle in a velvet stand. The gavel has small square and diamond-shaped inlays throughout its surface. The interior of the lid is hollow and fronted with glass. Inside are several small objects, included a toy cannon, several pieces of wood, a miniature gavel, and paper currency. The top of the chest has a small window separated into two compartments: one holds dirt and the other holds sticks.Context
