Description

Membership ribbon with an attached Bickford coin. The light green satin-woven ribbon is printed in black with the inscription, "CAMP GOV. GROUT Chester, Vt. 1897." The coin aluminum with a bronze center, and is held within a gold-toned metal wire, which is coiled at the top and stitched to the ribbon. The center of the coin is molded with a bust of Ulysses S. Grant, and the aluminum portion of the coin is molded with an image of Grant's tomb and the inscription, "WARRIOR CITIZEN STATESMAN COMMEMORATED APR 27 1897 / DANA BICKFORD, DES." The other side of the coin bears the inscription, "Here is shown the value of our dollar in the coin of different nations of the world." Below that are eight connected circles, each giving the coin value of a different country, and below that: "Invented & protected by Dana Bickford.
