Description

A pin that consists of a red, blue, yellow and white ribbon with a gold-colored medal hanging below and a similar ribbon affixed to a metal bar pin. These are WWII victory emblems awarded to those who served in the military between 1941 and 1946.

Context

These belonged to Charles Oliver Baxter (1906-1971), who was born in Highgate, VT, worked in retail sales in Pennsylvania and Middlebury, Vermont, eventually buying and running Boucher Clothing Store in Swanton. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of 1942 and rose in rank to a second lieutenant. It appears that he spent the war stateside.
