Yellow-painted metal plaque molded with the number 114. There are two large bolts through either side.

Context

Used to label cell 114 in Windsor Prison in Windsor, Vermont. This prison operated from 1807 to 1975 and was considered a maximum security facility. Another facility became known as the Windsor Prison after the first closed. It had begun as a farm for prisoners and became a small prison for inmates serving sentences for lesser crimes.
