Description

Metal clamp-on style ice skates. The skates consist of a toe plate, heel plate, blade, leather straps, and an adjustable metal side support. The toe plate is triangular with a clover punched out of the center. It is marked, "10 / UNION HARDWAR CO. TORRINGTON CONN.U.S.A." There is a metal bracket on either side of the toe plate even with the ball of the foot. Each bracket can be adjusted outward or inward with a bolt under the toe plate, making the fit wider or narrower. The heel plate is wrapped at the back with a foliated metal heel support and leather strap that wraps around the back of the heel. There is a long, L-shaped bracket extending from one side of the heel plate. The bracket is fitted with an oval leather strap and is adjustable in height from the connection point. The strap is impressed, "PATENTED DEC. 17TH 1895". The toe and heel plates are connected to the blade and are not adjustable. The blade is narrow, but no longer sharp.
