Description

Grey-and-white striped seersucker uniform jacket. The jacket has long sleeves and a rounded lapel with no collar. It secures up the center front with 4 buttonholes (buttons no longer present). There are flapped pockets at either side of the hip and breast. The left lapel has an embroidered applique patch in a design of a blue and white anchor. The jacket is unlined, and all the seams are bound with white tape. There are three small snaps sewn at the armhole seams and neck facing for attaching shoulder pads. There is a tag attached to the underside of the right hip pocket with the label, "W.A.V.E.S.", space to fill in the wearer's name, and washing instructions. The back neck facing has a nametag that reads, "Marion I. Turner", and a tag with the inscription, "Made and sold under authority of U.S. Navy W.A.V.E.S."
