Long-barreled musket. The end of the stock plate is engraved with the dates 1749, 1776, 1777, 1772. The top plate is marked, "GR" with a crown below. The stock is engraved with the word, "Bennington" and the initials "ES".

Context

Said to have been captured from the British during the Battle of Bennington on August 16, 1777.
