The Dog Team Tavern was located on Dog Ream Road in New Haven. The location was a traditional stopover for travelers. Sir Wilfred and Lady Anne Grenfell constructed the building in the 1920s as a mission home. They made it a tea house in 1936 and sold crafts and gifts from Newfoundland and Labrador. In 1946, Eben and Catherine Joy bought the Dog Team Tavern and ran it as a country inn and restaurant. They retained many antique furnishings and knickknacks from the Grenfell era. The tavern changed hands again in 1978 and 1987 when its final owner, Christopher Hesslink bought it. It burned down in 2006 and Hesslink's body was found inside.Acquisition
