Leather case containing surgical instruments. There are 16 pieces plus needles and thread. The case folds out with four flaps and secures with two sets of metal snaps. The interior is lined with red fabric.

Context

Owned by Dr. William A. Grover. Grover studied at Vermont Medical College in Woodstock, Vermont, in 1842, then travelled to California to practice in 1849. Not a strong VT connection.
