Description

Small leather case filled with parchment envelopes. The case opens flat, closing with four flaps like an enveloped. It is labeled in gold, "Wm. A. Grover, M. D." The envelopes are labeled in gothic script with abbreviated Latin names for medicines contained within.

Context

Owned by Dr. William A. Grover. Grover studied at Vermont Medical College in Woodstock, Vermont, in 1842, then travelled to California to practice in 1849. Not a strong VT connection.
