Description

Photogravure plate showing the Marquis de Lafayette. The plate shows the Marquis in three-quarter pose wearing a collared jacket and short haircut. The plate is tacked to a rectangular wooden block with finishing nails and shows remnants of ink around the edges from use.

Context

The plate was used to print the frontispiece of "Lafayette in Vermont" by Mary Grace Canfield [1934].
