Pieced quilt in the Chimney Sweep, or Album Patch, pattern. The pattern consists of squares and rectangles of patterned cotton set around a solid white cotton cross to form a stepped square. Each block is placed diagonally within the quilt, orienting the stepped squares into diamonds. The center of each block is signed in ink. Fabric patterns include stripes, plaids, and florals. Most of the blocks use a single printed fabric to form the design, but some use two different patterns. The top is quilted to a solid white cotton backing, but there is no batting. The quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted.Context
