Description

Silver-plated teaspoon with an ornately molded handle. The front of the handle is stamped with two 5-pointed stars. The handle is stamped on the back with the label, "USN", within the decorative cartouche. The back stem of the handle is marked, "1847 Sterling Plate".

Context

Used by Admiral Dewey as part of his silver service aboard the USS Olympia.
