Female figure made of papier-mâché over a wire frame wearing a burgundy silk dress. The dress has short sleeves and velvet overskirt trimmed with white lace. Five white silk ribbons are placed at the center front from the waist to the hem. The figure has brown wool hair decorated with a flower, small earrings and ribbon necklace. It is wearing white gloves and gold bracelets and is holding a feather fan. Beneath the skirt are a half-crinoline and a bustle. The figure is attached to a rectangular plywood base.
The figure is accompanied by a plywood case consisting of a base and cover that attached with metal clamps. There is a paper label that reads, "1879 VICTORIAN EVENING GOWN / CHARACTERISTICS: HALF CRINOLINE AND BUSTLE HIGH-WAISTED DRESS OF TWO DIFFERENT FABRICS".Use
