Description

Painted dress uniform sash and belt. It consists of two main components: a waist strap and an over-the-shoulder strap. These two parts are connected with metal buttons (1 missing). The buttons are stamped with a 5-pointed star. The waist strap is fastened using a wooden button that is part of a rosette consisting of three painted leather circles. These circles are colored black, white, and red, and each is faced with a metal button stamped with a shield design. A similar rosette is attached to the shoulder strap. On the right side of the waist button, a thin leather strap is affixed with two pearl buttons. The waist strap bears a stencil in black ink on the inside that reads: "T.B. WALTER. BURKE, VT."
