Description

Metal fire department badge. The gold colored metal badge (a) is a rampant eagle on the top of the shield with swirling decorations on the top and bottom of the shield. A flat circular band with two diamonds containing a simple cross of equal length arms in the center is on either side of the shield. Three overlapping bugles are in the center of the shield on a raised rippled background and encircled by a rope-like border. The words “MONTPELIER / FIRE DEPT.” debossed into the flat circular band. The two collar buttons (b-c) are gold colored circular metal pieces with a rope-like border and three overlapping bugles. The hat badge (d) is a circular metal gold colored piece with a solid border and three overlapping bugles. The cardboard box (e) is rectangular with an aged piece of paper that reads “FROM: / M. MacInnes / Fire Dept. / Montpelier Vt.” on the upper left edge and “For: / A. R. Bruce / 25 Fairview Avenue / Lebanon, N. H.” in the bottom center, all in black print.
