Description

Black-painted waxed canvas knapsack with leather shoulder straps. The bag consists of two compartments joined in the middle at what becomes the top when worn. The outer side is stamped, "15. / VT VOL." "Co. E 15 VT VOL. / T. W. Fifer" is scratched into both straps.

Use

Worn by True Blake Walter during the Civil War. Walter served as a musician in Company E, 15th Regiment Vermont.
