Description

Grey wool coat with three rows of round brass buttons on the front. The buttons are visually attached with horizontal lines of braid couched onto the front of the coat. The sleeve cuffs are decorated with the same buttons and braid as well as three lines of gold braid. The upper arms are decorated with large navy and gold chevrons. The back of the coat is elongated into tails.

Context

Likely worn by Captain Floyd A. Mitchell of Barre, Vermont, while a student at West Point.
