Description

Context

This bust has been attributed to Larkin Mead in the past, but research done by donor and experts indicate that the sculptor was more likely Henry Kirke Brown (1814-1886). Brown was Mead's first instructor in sculpture, having studied and worked in Rome before returning to New York. Transfer from the Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro, Vermont.
