This bust has been attributed to Larkin Mead in the past, but research done by donor and experts indicate that the sculptor was more likely Henry Kirke Brown (1814-1886). Brown was Mead's first instructor in sculpture, having studied and worked in Rome before returning to New York. Transfer from the Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro, Vermont.Acquisition
