Description

Teal and black brocade dress and separate overskirt. The fabric is woven in a closely repeated pattern of black medallions with a teal quatrefoil in the center on teal ground. The dress has long, curved sleeves with no cuffs. The bodice secures up the center front. The waistline sits either at the wearer's natural waist or just above. The bodice is decorated with several green and black rosettes placed in a U-shape from the shoulders across the bust. There is a very slight train at the hem of the skirt, and the hem is faced with glazed cotton. The handwritten tag "Mrs. Eben Sutton" is stitched into the back of the bodice lining. The overskirt is made from the same fabric of the dress and is gathered at the back and held with a large bow lined in black netting.
