A cream and white poster featuring a eagle on an oak branch across the top, the seal of the state of Vermont in the lower center and two images in the lower corners that include a combination of symbols. One has a train labeled as Central Vermont. Above the train is a crane that is hoisting a block of granite. In the other corner, the image includes what appears to be the Bennington Monument. The artist -- Andrea Casssani -- signed the poster in the lower right hand corner.Context
Andrea Cassani was born in Italy in 1889 and lived in both Italy and Spain, the home of his mother, until emigrating to the United States at age 16. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1911. He was a granite cutter and lived in Montpelier. He married Emma Commoli in 1917, had a son, Italo Americo in 1918, but the child died at six months. Andrea Cassani died the next year at age 30.Relationships
