Description

Sterling silver commemorative medal. One of the medal is molded with the inscription, "TOWN OF SPRINGFIELD . VERMONT . 1761" around the edge and an image of a man in shorts and v-necked shirt holding a scroll and mallet in front of a field scene. The other side is molded with the inscription, "VALLEY OF PRECISION . U.S.-VERMONT BICENTENNIAL 1776 . 1777", around the edge. The center is separated into three sections: one shows a raised log cabin labeled, "CROWN POINT BLOCKHOUSE 1760"; one shows a small clapboard building labeled, "EUREKA SCHOOLHOUSE 1785-1900"; and one shows a building with a large telescope labeled, "STELLAFANE OBSERVATORY 1923".
