Woold blanket embroidered with a folk-art style farm scene. The blanket itself is white wool and has been decorated with worsted yarn of various colors through embroidery. The embroidery depicts scenes from a rural Vermont town, including fir and apple trees, sheep, deer, town buildings such as a church, school, and red farmhouse with blue doors located at the bottom center, as well as connecting roads. At the bottom of the blanket, there is a brown and gray fence with flowers growing at the fence posts. The blanket is bound on all sides with a 2-inch yellow satin ribbon, with basting threads that have not been removed. In the bottom right-hand corner, the artist embroidered in black thread "D.O.W. 1978". The backing of the blanket is made of a heavy cotton orange and green flowered print.Context
