Oil on canvas portrait of Dr. Wilhelm Raab, M.D. Dr. Raab is centered in the painting with a bookshelf behind his left shoulder and a blackboard behind his right shoulder. The blackboard features ECG lines and the chemical formula for a catecholamine molecule. Dr. Raab has spectacles, a red tie, and a metal medical instrument in his white coat pocket. The bottom left corner is signed, “Francis Colburn 1960.” The wooden frame has gilded elements and grey paint, and a plaque that reads “WILHELM RAAB, MD / CHAIRMAN DIVISIONS OF / EXPERIMENTAL MEDICINE / UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT / COLLEGE OF MEDICINE / 1945-1960 / PRESENTED APRIL 26, 1960 / BY / THE FACULTY.” The painting was presented to Dr. Raab by Francis Colburn when he retired as a gift from the Faculty of the Department of Medicine at the University of Vermont on April 26, 1960.
