It has the inscription, "No. [1112]A / THE BANK OF ST. ALBANS, Vermont. Pay TWO dollars on demand to [H. Cury] or bearer, for the Mechanics Exchange Company. New York. [Sept] 183[blank] [A. This counterfeit bill was part of a widespread counterfeiting scam. The Mechanics Exchange Company was a false company, so the bills bearing its name could not be converted.Acquisition
