Description

Long muzzled gun with percussion cap ignitor. The gun consists of a long, rifled muzzle strapped into a wooden frame. There is a long tamp slid into the frame beneath the muzzle. Above the trigger is a section of exposed works, indicating that the rifle had previously been fitted with a flintlock ignitor. The but of the gun is stamped with the mark, "U. S. 17".
