This footlocker belonged to R.E. Smith of Waltham, Massachusetts. He worked at the Civilian Conservation Corps’ (CCC) Camp Greene and was part of the construction crew that built the Wrightsville Dam and reservoir from 1933 to 1935. The village of Wrightsville, which bordered the town of Middlesex and the city of Montpelier, was flooded for the project. The camp was located near the town line between Montpelier and Middlesex.
