Two-piece dress consisting of a bodice and skirt. The bodice is styled to look like a jacket over a blouse. The "jacket" is made of very dark purple velvet and secures at the center front waist with 6 buttons. Rows of false buttonholes with permanently affixed buttons continue up either side of the false opening to the narrow falling collar. The "blouse" in the center is cream-colored silk. The bodice has long sleeves that are slightly full at the top and taper to the cuff and a pointed hem with a sparrows tail back.
The skirt is made of layers of cream-colored silk damask and dark purple velvet. The velvet visually acts as an overskirt, covering the back of the skirt. The floral damask shows at the front of the skirt and around the hem. The hem is further accented with layers of damask pleats, lace, and pleated mesh. There is a long train.Context
