Description

Red and white guidon. The flag is made from 2 pieces of silk, one red and one white, hemmed horizontally across the center. The right side splits to form 2 tails. The red portion (upper) has the words, "U.S. Comp. C", in white. The white section has the words, "1st. Regt. Vt. CAVALRY." in red.

Context

Given by General George Armstrong Custer to General William Wells after the Civil War. Wells was a member of Company C, which was from the Waterbury, Vermont, area.
