Description

Plane wooden cane with copper band. The can is straight, with no knob or handle, and tapers toward the bottom. The band is engraved with the inscription, "This cane presented by Horatio N. Taplin of Washington ,D.C. to George L. Blanchard and by him turned over to the Vermont Historical Society was made from wood from the old bridge over which all the Northern Troops passed into Virginia during the Civil War"
