General Notes

Note

A deeply curious person and amateur painter, Wagstaff formed a true partnership of shared interests and mutual support with her spouse. Each read books in the others’ area of academic interest, assisted one another with projects, co-authored a manuscript children’s book. Together, they traveled the world—and created a life rich in ideas and inspiration, including through dinner parties that filled their Minneapolis home with light and laughter. This simple image of a fish held special meaning for Verostko, and reminded him of a haiku (Two Fish, 2009) that his wife wrote for his birthday shortly before her death: "Dui Pesci seeing the same world from different angles often"
