Dear Father Flynn,
I have your two letters at hand.
I have been ill and I did not
have a chance to give you an early
answer. According to Father Michael,
this job was in a hurry and as
things stand now it will be three
or four months before I could com-
plete it after I get all necessary
data. The reason for this is that
my man are leaving for Toledo, Ohio
where they are to install three large
Clerestory Windows in the Cathedral and it will be
a month before they will return.
Of course I should also like to take
up with you the question of payment
and I would like to cooperate with
[page 2]
you all I can.
When I submitted my prices I did
so with the knowledge that they
were to be most reasonable and
also that the work would be carried
out at once. With my former expe-
rience on this type of work I expect
to earn very little on it but as Father
Michael has favored me in time,
past so I am willing to do all I can
for him. My cash outlay in car-
ryin out this glass will be close
to the total submitted, so that
in fairness to myself the payment
should be met
as the work progresses in the
following answer. One fourth
or $1046 when all drawings are rea-
dy for execution.
One fourth when all glass is cut
One fourth when work is ready
for shipping and the remaining
fourth within 30 days after the work is
in place
[page 3]
I do not know if these terms will
suit you. If they do not we will
have to arrange some other way
probably partitioning the work
as you can pay for it in which case
the question of setting would have
to be reconsidered.
At any rate let me know what
you think about the suggestion
and we will come to some
understanding eventually.
I will send a copy of this to
Father Michael and see what
can be done about sizes and
subject, for the different emblems.
With best wishes I am
Sincerely Yours
