St. Gregory Rectory 1634 Gregory Street Chicago, Ill. Aug. 26/29. Dear Mr, Pitassi Your interpretation of the Purple vestments is quite correct. I admit that my interpretation was rather limited - thinking only of priests of lower rank than prelates. It is true that in the European cathedrals where the ordinations take place the Bishops are attended by Canons in pur- ple robes. In this country we have no Canons so called and these ordinations are therefore attended by the ordinary priests. I want you to go ahead and do as you see fit, you are the artist and you know your business. YOu had invitied my criticism and I gave as I felt it, but, of course, like all criticism it is not the final solution of the difficulty, but only a means to arrive more quickly at the correct end. Go on with the work, and by no means would I want the purple in the Extreme Unction window changed I remain Yours truly Father Klasen
