Description

When collection was being catalogued in the 1980's, it was originally thought that this was a painting given to Saint Vincent through the Ludwigsmissionsverein. Later research found documentation of Boniface Wimmer discussing this portrait in a letter to King Ludwig, indicating that Wimmer had just acquired it. Subsequently renumbered 1866.001 to indicate the year the painting was purchased.
