Historical NoteNote
"The Pond at East Runton was first exhibited in London at the Royal Society of Oil Painters in 1952. Beneath a summer sky, two children play alongside ducks in the pond while a couple strolls nearby. At the center of the painting, Fisher Prout uses the East Runton Viaducts—a pair of stone railway bridges that carried vacationers to the nearby Norfolk Coast—as a horizon line, dividing the picture into two zones" (Impressionist Legacies 88).Create Date
