The Bell & Howell version of the Apple II was a specially designed variant of the Apple II Plus marketed to the educational market beginning in July 1979.

Appearance: The Bell & Howell Apple II was nicknamed the “Darth Vader” Apple II due to its dark gray color scheme, which stood out from the standard beige. The case was black, but internally, it was a regular Apple II Plus with Apple part numbers
Features: While externally different, the Bell & Howell system retained the same keyboard as the original Apple II, albeit in black instead of brown. It had additional security elements for classroom use, including a tamper-proof cover
