The TRS-80 Line Filter was designed specifically for use with the TRS-80 Model I Microcomputer System and its peripherals. Its purpose was to prevent power transients from affecting the computer. When appliances like refrigerators, air conditioners, or hair dryers cause voltage spikes through the power line, they can lead to abnormal computer behavior (such as freezing or memory corruption). By plugging your TRS-80 system into the Line Filter instead of directly into a 120 VAC power source, you reduce the risk of such occurrences.
