Note
DECUS, or the Digital Equipment Computer Users’ Society, was a prominent user group for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) products. Founded in 1961 by Edward Fredkin, DECUS served as a community for companies and individuals who used DEC computers. The group was known for its software library, which distributed user-developed programs and games, and for hosting technical conferences and local user groups1.
DECUS played a significant role in fostering communication between DEC and its customers, and it continued to operate until it was merged into the Connect User Group Community in 20081.
