The Seagate ST-412 is a classic hard disk drive introduced in 1981. It was a significant improvement over its predecessor, the ST-506, with a storage capacity of 10 MB compared to the ST-506's 5 MB. The ST-412 used Modified Frequency Modulation (MFM) encoding and became a standard in the personal computer industry until the early 1990s including the IBM XT.
