These pins were owned by Mary Jane Abbott. Mary Jane Abbott was known as "Mesquite's Angel of Mercy" due to her helpful and loving nature. A statue of her and her husband, William, stands outside City Hall as a monument to the character and strength of the early settlers of Mesquite. The eight-point dress pin was actually gifted by Mary to her niece, Eleanor. When Eleanor was sixteen, Mary noticed her admiring the pin and altruistically gave it to her on the spot. These pins were donated to the museum by Eleanor and Lewis Nielson.
