John David Pulsipher Home # 10 on the walking tour 111 N. Willow
In 1900 the John David Pulsipher family moved from Gunlock, Utah to Mesquite. The Pulsiphers’ first residence was the tent school purchased and relocated from the school lot directly across the street. The first lumber school/church/recreation building had just been built to replace the tent.
In 1901, trading labor at the adobe brick-making yard for 'dobies, enough bricks to build the permanent home were earned. The new home was a large room 14 x 16 feet with three 'dobies thick walls. Made from lumber hauled by John David from Mt. Trumbull in Arizona and covered with shingles hand made on the mountain, the roof was extended 10 feet on both sides of the room to form two full-length porches. The tent school was attached to the back of the house. Its walls were lined with boards and a board floor was installed. In the 1950's the house was sold. The new owner razed it and built a new home.
