A picture of Dick Hammer and John Wayne at Dick's Cafe in St. George. Dick opened his famous cafe in 1935, and, eventually, the cafe began to be frequented by quite a few famous actors, including John Wayne, who became a good friend of Dick's. One of Dick's sons worked for Mesquite's first mayor, Jimmie Hughes.
