Description

Two medicine bags found by South Hills, Idaho, in 1974. Medicine bags, were, and still are, incredibly sacred to many Native American tribes. When a boy turned fifteen, he would be sent on a vision quest, during which his Spirit Guide (Spirit Animal) would appear to him. After his quest, the boy would be given a medicine bag by his Shaman. The bag would be filled with symbols of his Spirit Guide and other personal mementos, and was meant to help heal the wearer and keep them in harmony. Medicine bags were typically worn around the neck and, when a man died, the medicine bag would be buried with him.
